Flexor Pollicis Brevis

Origin: Flexor retinaculum and tubercle of trapezium.

Insertion: Via radial sesamoid onto the base of proximal phalanx of thumb.

Actions: Flexes MCP joint of the thumb.

Innervation: Superficial fibres: Median N (C8, T1) (Deep fibres may be innervated by ulnar N (T1))

Daily uses: Gripping on jar.

Origin: Anterior (costal) surface of the scapula

Insertion: Lesser tuberosity of the humerus

Actions: Internal rotation

Innervation: Upper and lower subscapular nerves

Daily uses: Tucking the back of your shirt into your trousers
